Vassar Senior Project Statement (1996)
“For my senior project, I would like to create sculptures from everyday common objects. The sculptures will be abstract and use one type of object as a “unit” that will be combined to make each piece. The sculptures will be obviously made up of recognizable units, yet visually combine to create a coherent work of art.”

The pieces in these two series were not all part of my senior project. Some pieces were made within six months of my graduation as a continuation of this project. While I began the project trying different "units", I quickly settled on yarn/twine and rubber bands. I realized that the appearance of the final pieces depended on whether the units used were objects already, like the rubber band pieces, or objects I created, like the crochetted yarn pieces.
