| Initially, I decided to photograph Silver Sands State Park as a challenging exercise. Up to that point, my images were mostly still lifes and interiors. Silver Sands was an opportunity for me to move outside and learn to cope with new variables like light, weather and seasonal changes. I did not intend to spend a lot of time in the park, but after a few visits, I realized that the constant changes in the park intrigued me more than I expected. New elements, a new subject matter and new cameras all led me to an insatiable need to visit the park and take images. At my most crazed, I visited the park twice a week for two to three hours each visit with up to three different cameras. The result was the realization that I could not satisfy my interest in the park in a few months. Thus began my long-term project photographing Silver Sands State Park. Each series below is a small group of visually linked images. I continue to photograph Silver Sands on a regular basis never disappointed by what I see and always leaving wanting more. |
